Of the thousands of Trump traits that make him dangerous, this one stands above all others.
Sen. Jack Reed put it best.
“It’s a lot easier to start a war than to end one.”
But Trump doesn’t care, because Trump is a lame-duck president.
Trump has never cleaned up anything in his life.
It’s always his dad, his lawyer, or, for a time there, President Biden.
Now, it’s going to be someone else.
Because Trump just attacked the wealthiest nation we’ve attacked since WWII. Iran’s GDP is nearly $500 billion, and adjusted for inflation, it wasn’t since we battled Germany and Japan that we engaged with a nation with such vast resources.
And even the smaller enemies? From Afghanistan to Iraq to Vietnam, it regularly takes 8-20 years to get out of a conflict once we’ve engaged.
We can hope the world rallies around diplomacy, and this goes away before we get drawn into yet another endless war.
But either way, and perhaps the only silver lining in this, is that Trump just guaranteed a blue wave in 2026, and a two-term Democratic president in 2028.
Because just like we saw with his last term, he’s going to leave another series of catastrophes in his wake, and just like every other time, it’s going to be the rest of us taking responsibility for cleaning it up.
